Focus Groups and Community Outreach
Following passage of progressive renewable energy legislation in North Carolina, a major public utility contracted with Nexus Strategies to engage the utility’s customers and the general public in focus group discussions on potential solutions for meeting new energy portfolio standards. The discussions provided a fruitful two-way dialogue leading to new and innovative ideas. Through message development and delivery, coalition building, and public awareness efforts our client was able to supplement their regulatory claims with a positive public effort resulting in decisions favorable to our position.
Media Relations and Public Advocacy
Nexus Strategies executed, on behalf of a national coalition, a state-based public service campaign on medication adherence. Working closely with healthcare providers, pharmaceutical companies, pharmacies, healthcare advocacy groups and associations we were able to raise public awareness and increase patients’ adherence in the targeted market through earned media, outreach, and marketing.
Nexus Strategies has been involved with several merger issues involving large multi-national corporations. In different instances, Nexus Strategies helped generate media attention and local input to impact the merger’s position with appropriate federal agencies.
Nexus Strategies has assisted a number of major television networks with broad public relations and outreach campaigns in their bids for carriage by the state’s major cable and satellite television providers.
As part of a broader national project spearheaded by a major health research non-profit, Nexus Strategies managed public affairs efforts that included active participation by the Governor and First Lady, as well as a major local sports franchise. The project resulted in broad media coverage and increased awareness of the specific health issue. These efforts were a major factor in the local affiliate’s earning “Chapter of the Year Award” from their national organization.
